Ang was a dedicated gym member and runner, initially seeing yoga as the class to stretch out after her workout. It wasn’t until she was backpacking around Central America and stumbled across a vinyasa style yoga class in Antigua, Guatemala, that she had her ‘wow, this is yoga ah ha!’ moment. 6 months later, Ang moved to Australia from her native UK, and commenced her level 1 teacher training with BodyMindLife in Sydney. She then went on to to do her level 2 teacher training with Byron Yoga Centre, and her pre and post natal training with Bliss Baby Yoga. She has taught for several years, and has seen firsthand the lifechanging benefits that yoga can bring, particularly in the last couple of years having had her now 1 year old son. “I love Patanjali’s definition of yoga: ‘Yoga is stilling the fluctuations of the mind’. I think it brings us back to what yoga truly is, and confirms that it is accessible and available to everyone. I hear so many people saying that they can’t do yoga, because ‘they’re not flexible enough’. I don’t have the bendiest body, but yoga has been completely transformative in my body, and in how I approach and live my life. A dedicated yogi to me isn’t someone who can necessarily do all the complicated poses, but someone who is mindful and present as they move throughout their practice, and their day.”
